Hunt for man with 'handgun' after attempted robbery at bookies near Anniesland

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man with a a handgun attempted to rob a bookies near Anniesland.

The man threatened a member of staff at the William Hill store on Crow Road with what looked like a black handgun around 7.50pm last night (October 9).

He then made off empty-handed.

The suspect is described as white, around 5ft 6 and of medium build.

He was in his 30s and was wearing grey jogging bottoms with a distinctive red long sleeve top, a black snood, black hat and black glasses.

He was also carrying a black drawstring bag.

Constable Stuart Stevens said: “This was a frightening experience for the member of staff, who fortunately was not injured in the incident.

"I’m appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time or was driving, especially in the nearby supermarket, and has dash cam footage to get in touch via 101 quoting ref number 3347 of 9 October 2020.”
