Hunt for man with drone spotted near Scots RAF base who said 'he wanted footage of the jets'

Cops are searching for a man with a drone who said he was looking to take pictures of RAF jets at a Scots base.

Police received a report of the man flying the device at South Covesea Terrace in Lossiemouth, Moray around 1pm last Thursday.

A description has been issued and anyone with information is urged to come forward after the man said he had been looking to take footage of planes landing at RAF Lossiemouth.

He is described as being in his early 40s, around 6ft tall and of larger build with short dark hair.

He was wearing blue jogging trousers, a black hooded top and black trainers. He spoke with an English accent.

Police Constable Lisa Duncan said: "The man indicated that he was looking to take footage of jets landing at RAF Lossiemouth. We were called but we were unable to trace him following a check of the area.

"We are working to establish the full circumstances and would urge anyone who believes they saw this man or if you recognise yourself from the description to come forward.

"We would also urge anyone flying a drone to ensure they are familiar with the permissions required in certain areas to ensure you are using your device safely and legally.

"Anyone with information can call 101, quoting incident 1529 of 29 April."
