Hunt for man who punched 14-year-old boy in the face near Tynemouth Metro Station

A mystery thug who punched a teenage school boy in the face is today being hunted.

The 14-year-old was targeted by a man, near Tynemouth Metro Station, in Tynemouth, on Thursday evening.

Police say the attacker punched the lad in the face, before making his getaway on foot.

And today as they continue their hunt for the thug, officers have appealed to the public for information.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said: “Shortly after 5.30pm on Thursday we received a report of an assault near Tynemouth Metro Station.

"It was reported that a 14-year-old male was approached by an unknown man who proceeded to punch the teenager in the face. The offender then made off on foot.

“An investigation has been launched into the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact police."

The boy was not seriously injured but was left with facial injuries after the attack.
