Hunt for man seen 'kicking and punching cowering dog in head' in Stockport

A man was caught on camera punching and kicking a cowering dog in the head while walking in Stockport.

The shocking act was captured on Marbury Road at 2pm on June 11.

A man wearing dark clothing can be seen walking with a grey/black and white collie-type dog when suddenly he stops to hit it.

The pet then crouches down on the pavement while he kicks it in the head.

A few seconds later, the owner is seen to stop and rain at least six punches down on the dog’s head.

A concerned member of the public saw the abhorrent act and reported the matter to the RSPCA.

Animal rescue officer Sonia Hulme is now investigating.

She said: “We have had reports of a man abusing a dog as he walked it down the street on a lead.

“This is in a residential area and close to roads so I am hoping others may have seen something and be able to provide me with information as to who this man is.

“The incident was caught on camera and we have released still images in the hope of someone identifying this person.

The dog could be seen cowering (RSPCA)

“I want to hear from him, or anyone who knows who he is, as soon as possible.

“I am worried about this dog and am very keen to check that he or she is okay.”

The man was captured wearing a black shiny coat with a dark grey hood, black trousers and a black beanie hat.

Anyone who thinks they can help should call the RSPCA inspector appeal line on 0300 123 8018.
