Hunt for man accused of 'dangerously' driving stolen car on M62

A manhunt is underway to trace a driver accused of dangerously driving a stolen car through Liverpool streets and onto the M62.

Merseyside Police has today released a picture of the man they want to track down.

Liverpool man Neil Tootle, 40, who has links to Walton and Anfield failed to turn up to court to answer dangerous driving and aggravated vehicle taking allegations.

Police said a motorist was seen driving a stolen Ford car "dangerously" through Wavertree and onto the M62 two years ago.

The car was eventually stopped by police just after 1.30am on Tuesday, July 16 2019 at junction 5 Huyton.

Tootle has been charged over the incident.

Confirming the manhunt, a Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "Have you seen this man? We're appealing for information to trace Neil Tootle, 40, from Liverpool, who is wanted on warrant.

"He is wanted by police after failing to appear in court to answer charges in relation to dangerous driving and aggravated vehicle taking."

Tootle is described as around 5ft 5in tall, with receding fair hair and blue eyes.

He has links to the Walton and Anfield areas of Liverpool.
