Hunt for Glasgow yobs who rammed car into home of Steven 'Bonzo' Daniel ends with no arrests

A police hunt for yobs who rammed a car into the house of a Glasgow crime boss has drawn a blank.

The front porch of Steven ‘Bonzo’ Daniel's plush three-bedroomed £340k villa in Bishopbriggs was badly damaged after the car ploughed into the front of the house in November last year.

Bonzo’s partner Avril Connell who owns the property, was reportedly inside the home at the time of the late night attack.

A major police investigation was launched in the wake of the incident to catch those responsible, with the vehicle involved towed away from the scene. But Police Scotland have now ended all active enquiries without anyone being arrested or charged in connection, the Daily Record reports.

A police spokesperson said: “A number of enquiries have been carried out following this incident however no one has been arrested or charged in relation to it. Should any further information come to light, it will be fully investigated.”

Pictures taken outside the property in John Marshall Drive show the front door boarded up just hours after the attack.

Debris was littered on the ground while the porch wall was partially caved in by the force of the crash. Tyre tracks could also be seen on the grass in the front garden while the guttering had melted from the flames.

Bonzo, who is also known as Steven Peebles, suffered severe facial wounds after being attacked with a machete following a high-speed car chase in May 2017.

The ambush followed a wave of violence between the Lyons and Daniel families that erupted the previous December.

The same Bishopbriggs property was under police guard during the attempted murder trial of those behind the attack on his life. Attempts were made to sell the home in 2019 but that the purchase had fallen through.

A statement from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, issued at the time of the incident, said: “We were alerted at 9.48pm on Tuesday, November 15 to reports of a house on fire at John Marshall Drive, Bishopbriggs.

“Operations Control mobilised four fire appliances and firefighters extinguished a fire affecting a vehicle which had collided with a house. There were no reports of any injuries and crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe.”
