Hunt for driver after two-year-old Scots girl hospitalised by car

POLICE are looking to track down the driver who hit a two-year-old girl on a Scottish street before fleeing the scene.

The young girl was struck by a car which failed to stop at around 8.30pm on Sunday, April 9, on Napier Crescent in Dumbarton, officers said.

She was taken to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow and later released.

Police have scant details, but said the car is believed to be a silver or light-coloured, small hatchback.

Officers said “extensive enquiries” have been carried out and that they are now appealing to the public to help identify the driver and vehicle involved.

Sergeant Archie McGuire, of Argyll and West Dunbartonshire road policing unit, said: “I would urge anyone who may have information to come forward.

“In addition, if you have dash-cam that could help with our investigation then please contact us.”

Anyone who can assist is asked to call 101, quoting 3477 of 9 April, 2023. Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
