Hunt continues for yobs who vandalised Cilla Black and Ken Dodd's headstones

Police are still on the hunt for the yobs who vandalised the headstones of two Liverpool legends.

The gravestones of Cilla Black and Sir Ken Dodd, which are both located in Allerton Cemetery, were defaced with ‘offensive’ graffiti on the evening of October 26.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said enquiries are ongoing and there have been no arrests.

The act of vandalism caused outrage at the time, with fans questioning why anyone would target the graves of two beloved Liverpool celebrities.

A council spokesperson said staff were carrying out repairs on the graves.

They said: "We would urge anyone who has any information about the person or people responsible to contact the police.”

Sir Ken's headstone had to be removed from his final resting place in order to be further cleaned, while Cilla's headstone was able to be repaired on site.

Sir Ken died on March 18, 2018, aged 90, at his home in Knotty Ash, the same home in which he was born and raised.

He was laid to rest, alongside his mother Sarah and father Arthur, in a private burial service at Allerton Cemetery in Liverpool.

Surprise! Surprise! star Cilla Black was buried just feet from her parents’ graves, and her headstone is a marble memorial which describes her as a “devoted mother and grandmother”.

Cilla passed away in August 2016 aged 72 and her headstone carries her name ‘Cilla Black OBE’ above the single word: “Singer”.

The headstone also gives her full name, Priscilla Maria Veronica Willis, nee White, and gives her date of birth and death: May 27, 1943 and August 1, 2015.
