Hungry bear breaks into man's home to scoff leftover KFC left in kitchen

A man had a huge shock when he returned home to discover a hungry bear feasting on his leftover KFC meal.

John Holden believes the animal was enticed into his house by the smell of the fast-food, which was on his kitchen worktop.

Mr Holden, from Sierra Madre in California, discovered his front door had been forced open before spotting the bear munching away on his dinner.

He suspects that the hungry bear was joined by others - and said they left a mess behind them.

The surprised homeowner shared a video of the unexpected guest munching away on the KFC meal.

He told ABC7 it was the first time a bear had entered his home - although he has had a number of encounters outdoors.

He said: "I've actually had them bump into me a couple times in the backyard, but definitely never in the house like that.

"That was something else and they sure made a mess of the place."

After helping themselves to his food, Mr Holden said the bears remained in his garden for a while.

He finally got them to leave by making loud noises, he told the network.

Bear sightings are increasingly common in parts of California, with one recent instance seeing an animal stroll into an elementary school in San Dimas, LA.
