Edinburgh Hunger Games thug launched racist abuse at policeman after drunken taxi attack with crutches

An Edinburgh local who changed her name to that of Hunger Games’ character Katniss Everdeen racially abused a policeman after attacking a taxi with crutches.

Everdeen had gotten into a drunken row with a taxi driver before using her crutches to batter the inside of the cab after failing to pay the fare .

When the police were called, the 48-year-old repeatedly called PC Derek Li a “slanty-eyed pr***”.

She appeared yesterday at Edinburgh's Sheriff Court and admitted to acting in a threatening and abusive manner - resulting in a £140 fine.

On Monday at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court, she admitted assaulting a stranger at a train station and was given 90 hours of community service and 12 months’ supervision.

Everdeen changed her name to that of the Hunger Games ' heroine four years ago, as well as taking the middle name 'Mockingjay', the symbolic nickname of the lead character played by Jennifer Lawrence in the hit movie franchise.

Yesterday fiscal depute Clare Kennedy told how the incident took place at about 6.10pm on February 20 in Leith .

She said: “When police officers arrived, they could observe Miss Everdeen in the back of a black cab appearing to be aggressive and hitting the walls of the cab with her crutches.”
