Portugal begin their European Championship title defence after five years tonight as they battle Hungary in Group F... aka the ‘Group of Death’.
The defending champions are among the tournament favourites once again, with the likes of Ruben Dias, Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Jota having emerged to supplement the core of the Cristiano Ronaldo-led side that tasted European glory in France five years ago.
Hungary look to have a thankless task ahead of them, with games against Germany and world champions France still to come, but the expanded 24-team format means even one upset victory may be enough to see them progress to the last-16.
Their challenge has been made even harder, however, by the absence of star man Dominik Szoboszlai through injury.
