Follow all the fallout as Hungary secured a huge draw against world champions France in Euro 2020’s Group F this afternoon.
Hungary put up a valiant performance against Portugal in their opening game, only to come up short following a late flurry from the European champions, but they went one better against France in front of a roaring Budapest crowd here, drawing 1-1 with Didier Deschamps’ side to give themselves a chance of a surprise place in the round of 16.
Attila Fiola opened the scoring for Hungary on the cusp of half-time, rolling a tidy finish past Hugo Lloris to cap off a swift counter-attack. Antoine Griezmann rescued the draw for Les Bleus in the second half, however, scoring from close range after a massive kick upfield from Lloris and some impressive work from Kylian Mbappe. The result puts the French on four points in the ‘group of death’, following their victory over Germany earlier this week. Next up, Germany take on Portugal in a crucial clash in Munich.
