Hungary vs England team news: Leeds United's Kalvin Phillips starts, Patrick Bamford on the bench

Kalvin Phillips has been named in Gareth Southgate's starting XI to face Hungary this evening.

England's player of the year will line up in the heart of midfield alongside Declan Rice as the Three Lions face Marco Rossi's side in Budapest.

Leeds forward Patrick Bamford will have to wait to make his England debut after he was named on the bench by Southgate.

The England manager made just one change to the side that lost in the Euro2020 Final against Italy on penalties.

Jordan Pickford starts in goal for England, and Southgate has named a back four of Kyle Walker, John Stones, Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw.

Mason Mount, Jack Grealish and Raheem Sterling will start ahead of Phillips and Rice, with Harry Kane leading the line.

England XI: Pickford, Walker, Stones, Maguire, Shaw, Rice, Phillips, Mount, Grealish, Sterling, Kane

Subs: Trippier, Johnstone, Henderson, Mings, Coady, Saka, Alexander-Arnold, Lingard, James, Bellingham, Pope, Bamford
