Hungary’s new PM says Netanyahu would be arrested if he visited country

  • This decision means Hungarian authorities would be obliged to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he enters the country.
  • Netanyahu is wanted by the ICC for alleged war crimes in Gaza, with a warrant issued in November 2024.
  • Magyar explicitly warned Netanyahu about the potential arrest, stating his government's firm intention to ensure Hungary remains an ICC member.
  • The move reverses a decision by the outgoing Viktor Orban government, which had intended to withdraw from the ICC by 2 June in protest of the warrant against Netanyahu.
