Hungarian journalist unconscious after beating

A Hungarian investigative journalist, Iren Karmen, was beaten up and found unconscious on the banks of the Danube in Budapest. She is in hospital with serious head injuries. Karmen received several email and telephone threats last winter that were apparently prompted by her research into fraudulent dealings in petroleum products and other forms of corruption in the early 1990s.
