Hungarian Grand Prix 2019: Race prediction, date, UK start time, TV channel, free live stream, tickets and odds

After the events at the German Grand Prix, Mercedes boss Toto Wolff will be praying for nothing but blue skies at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Lewis Hamilton had started the German Grand Prix on pole at Hockenheim; he finished ninth after a smash in the wall and a nightmare minute-long pit-stop. Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas crashed out. Charles Leclerc endured another frustrating retirement in the rain.

The only man from the 'big three' who seemed to enjoy the conditions and benefit as a result was Max Verstappen, who secured his second victory in three races.

The Dutchman continued his fine form and is now just 61 points off the championship leader Hamilton as the teams head into the final race before the month-long summer break.

But the Red Bull star must navigate past a difficult obstacle himself after a string of incidents at the Hungaroring in the past.

After a fairly predictable start to the Formula One season, the season has been blown wide open after the madness in Germany. Will there be more as we head 500 miles east?

Scroll down for our comprehensive Hungarian Grand Prix preview...

Date and UK start time

The Hungaroring is a circuit that can be especially punishing on tyres, with a number of twisty and testing corners. Other than the home straight and the downhill run to Turn Four, there are few places to overtake.

That makes getting the race strategy right extremely important. The first free practice session started on Friday at 10am, with the second session taking place later in the day at 2pm and the final session early on Saturday at 11am.

Qualifying begins later on Saturday at 2pm, with the race scheduled for a 2:10pm start on Sunday.

TV channel and live stream

Those with a Sky Sports subscription will be able to tune in for every live race in the 2019 campaign. Channel 4 recently downgraded their rights package which means they can only show highlights of qualifying sessions and races.

Sky Sports subscribers can watch the entire race weekend live on the Sky Sports F1 channel.

If you don’t have Sky Sports, you can watch with a NOW TV Sky Sports Pass, which gives you exactly the same coverage without having to sign up for a contract.

Tickets

With unpredictable weather and several gravel traps around the circuit, the Hungaroring can be unforgiving for drivers - and that makes for a good viewing for fans.

Prediction

Race winner: Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes)

(Getty Images)

There is no doubt that the 34-year-old will be feeling the heat for the first time this season after Verstappen's victory in the wet.

The Briton admitted he wasn't at his optimum level after being struck down with illness but with plenty of time to recuperate and analyse their horror show at Hockenheim, Mercedes will be eager to get back to winning ways.

Verstappen certainly looks the best-equipped driver on the grid to challenge Hamilton for his world title. But Hamilton has won in Budapest six times in his career and after his off day at Hockenheim, a win will provide the perfect antidote to get his title hopes back on track.
