Hundreds of pounds have been raised for a teenage boy who is in Alder Hey after being seriously injured in a fall from a hotel.
Mason Lyndsay was rushed to the Liverpool children's hospital on Tuesday, December 8 after falling 60ft from the venue in Blackpool.
The 13-year-old suffered serious head and facial injuries and is currently being treated, but a family friend has said his condition was still very serious.
Now a GoFundMe page has been set up by Sally Sheerin, with plans to raise money for Mason's upcoming 14th birthday.
Sally told LancsLive she set up the fund as a way of helping Mason and also creating awareness about the dangers of climbing.
She said: “Teenagers are doing this parkour free-running, and that’s what Mason was doing, and unfortunately he’s fallen a great distance and this is what’s happened.
“He’s my son’s age, they’re friends, so I thought this could have happened to anyone. People don’t realise the dangers of doing these fads."
Ms Sheerin continued: “It’s really bad, he can’t even speak yet; he’s still on a ventilator and it’s still very serious. We don’t know the severity until he comes around properly.
“But you got to think, it’s more than just the physical condition, it’s the mental scars to go with that. Even his friends who saw him, what they have gone through in witnessing their friend fall from such a distance.
"It all has a knock-on effect wider than you think.
“This is why I want to raise money for Mason, so he can enjoy his birthday, while we want to make an effort to tell others about the dangers of climbing these tall buildings because we don’t want anyone to go through anything like Mason and his family have gone through.”
The campaign is hoping to raise £1,000 and so far it's reached a quarter of that target.

However, the fundraising has seen some negative reaction from the public.
Ms Sheerin said: "People have been saying nasty things on Instagram and the GoFundMe, that Mason should have been in school and even worse things than that, but he wasn’t supposed to be in school - the children had 14 days off because of Covid.
“No one has paid a higher price than Mason, there’s no point saying nasty things. Let’s use this turn of events to learn from and hopefully try and save some people in the future."
A spokeswoman for Lancashire Police said: "Emergency services, including the air ambulance, attended and the boy, 13, was taken to Alder Hey Children's Hospital for treatment.
"He has suffered serious head and facial injuries, as well as a number of suspected fractures and is in a serious but stable condition."
