Hundreds pay tribute to Liverpool FC fan, 12, who died suddenly on Christmas Day

The grandad of a young Liverpool fan who died suddenly on Christmas Day has put together a special song which it is hoped will be played at his funeral later this week.

Hundreds of tributes to Cason Hallwood have flooded in on social media, with many also sending their condolences to his family and friends.

The 12-year-old collapsed on Christmas Day hours after complaining of being short of breath.

Cason’s brother Corley, 18, said a song had been written in tribute to Cason by their grandad Albie Hallwood, 60.

It's called Missing You and was inspired by the Pink Floyd song Wish You Were Here. Both Cason and his grandad were Floyd fans.

The song is sung by Cason's uncle, Dan Barry.

The family are hoping it will be played at Cason's funeral on Friday.

Corley said: "The support for Cason has been unreal. It’s made me feel a lot better.

"Cason was loving, funny, you didn’t have to know him for five minutes and you’d already like him."

His cousin, Daniel Hallwood, 17, had also done two rap songs in tribute - they have also been posted on YouTube.

Schoolboy Cason Hallwood had enjoyed Christmas dinner at his grandparents' just hours before he collapsed and died.

Earlier that day, Cason, who was excited to open his presents, had spent the morning with his mum, Louise, and three brothers - twins Cowen and Corley, 18, and Caiden, 13 - at their home in Winsford, Cheshire.

He then ate Christmas dinner at his grandparents' before heading out to the park with his friends.

But just hours later, Louise received a phone call from Cason who said he was struggling to breathe.

Louise, rushed Cason to Wharton Recreation Park and gave her son, who had asthma and a nut allergy, a shot from his epinephrine auto-injector to try and revive him but when this failed she rang for an ambulance.

The Winsford Academy pupil was rushed to Leighton Hospital in Crewe but sadly died a short time later.
