There has been a 150 per cent increase in Victorians choosing to become Canberrans in the last month.
More than 250 driver licence transfers from Victoria to the ACT have been undertaken in the past month, as the state was plunged into a second coronavirus lockdown and its border with NSW slammed shut.
The number of transfers skyrocketed, up 150 per cent, from the previous month when 99 transfers were completed.
There has also been an almost 20 per cent increase in the number of vehicle registrations being changed from Victoria to the ACT.
Access Canberra completed almost 400 licence plate changes from mid-June to mid-July, up from 333 the previous month.
Victorian number plates have suddenly attracted alot of attention as the state deals with a rising caseload. It reported a record day of new case on Wednesday with 317.
NSW closed its border with Victoria on July 8, and the ACT quickly followed suit.
Anyone returning to Canberra from Victoria must apply for an exemption and complete 14 days in self-isolation.
There has also been an increase in the number of vehicle registration transfers from NSW to the ACT.
From mid-June to mid-July 2352 were completed compared to 2155 the month prior.
Anyone who lives in the ACT for more than three months must transfer their driver licence and vehicle registration to the ACT.
