Hundreds of flats could be created as part of the planned £200m regeneration of the Ramada Renaissance complex in Manchester city centre, it has been revealed.
If the proposals are backed, a 27-storey tower would house the apartments alongside the existing Renaissance hotel, the Manchester Evening News reports.
Under the scheme, a section of the Premier House building would be knocked down to make way for the residential tower, which would have communal and private rooftop terraces for residents.

Together with investor Starwood Capital, developer Property Alliance Group. is hoping to fulfil Manchester City Council's long-held ambitions for the site to be redeveloped.
A new public area along the River Irwell, which would also have space for pop-up food and drink vendors as well as new footpaths and a cycle lane, is also proposed.
Alex Russell, managing director of Alliance, said: "We have worked closely with Manchester City Council, Manchester Cathedral, and Historic England to develop the design of the residential building ensuring it is appropriate for the setting.
"The residential element will be complemented by extensive public realm which will significantly enhance Deansgate, creating a much larger and greener space for people to enjoy.
"A new lift will provide access down to the Irwell riverside which will feature a new food and beverage offering designed to activate the space.
"We look forward to sharing our plans and receiving feedback ahead of submitting our next planning application in September."
Planning applications to redevelop the Renaissance hotel and create new office space were submitted to Manchester council in May and June respectively.

The hotel, which closed last year, would be refurbished and given a ‘playful exterior’ in line with the Treehouse hotel brand operated by SH Hotels and Resorts.
A public consultation on the hotel and office development took place in March and April this year with 56% of people saying they were ‘supportive or partially supportive’ of it.
