Hundreds of thousands of Amazon products recalled - everything you need to know

Approximately 500,000 Amazon products are being recalled in the US due to safety concerns, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

From Youbeien Crib Mobiles to Anker Power Banks, almost half a million gadgets, children’s toys, and home products are being recalled by manufacturers due to various health and safety concerns.

Amazon shoppers who make purchases through the online retailer are being advised to check the recall list and to immediately return any products that they’ve purchased that have a recall order against them.

The biggest recall relates to 481,000 Anker power banks that are being recalled immediately it’s lithium batteries. Consumers who suspect they may have purchased an impacted item are instructed to visit Anker’s Recall Page and confirm the serial number of their item to be eligible for a refund or gift card.

The widespread recalls raise further concerns about the safety of such goods and the precautions major retailers like Amazon take when selling products from international manufacturers.

While it appears that the majority of impacted products are heading to US consumers, Amazon’s UK page also has some information about its recall processes.

“If a retailer or European authority notifies us of a product recall, we'll stop selling the product as quickly as possible,” the statement says. “We'll also email customers who have already bought the product from us. In this email, we'll advise them of the measures put in place by the manufacturer or the authorities.”

While there aren’t as many Amazon product recalls impacting UK shoppers, there are still a few that made the national recall list.
