Hundreds of school children visited Larkhall Leisure Centre to take part in Tri Fest

Hundreds of school children packed into Larkhall Leisure Centre to take part in Tri Fest.

Around 800 kids from Larkhall and Hamilton primaries attended the event and took part in a swim, run and cycle.

Lynn Donald, recreation officer at the centre said: “Our Tri Fest is a brilliant event which gives children of all abilities the chance to take part in sport – and even better than that, an event with three sports rolled into one.

“If the children can’t swim, they are assisted by a swim teacher; if they can’t ride a bike, they are given a scooter; and if they can’t run, they can walk.

“A lot of hard work from staff at Larkhall Leisure Centre and South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture goes into planning and organising the event.

“The reward for this is seeing the delight on the children’s faces as they cross the finish line and get presented with their medal.

“It doesn’t end there – after they receive their medal, bag, t-shirt, water and snack, they head over to the pitch for additional activities including, football, basketball and athletics.”

And she added: “And if that isn’t enough, we have a fantastic DJ taking requests and playing all their favourite tunes for them to sing and dance along to.”
