Hundreds of pupils isolating after Covid hits schools in Bristol region

Hundreds of pupils are isolating after coronavirus cases have been confirmed in schools across Bristol and North Somerset since the half-term break.

Students from both primary and secondary schools, plus dozens of staff are in quarantine since the first infection was recorded on Monday, November 2.

Some schools have seen entire year groups sent home, whereas at other settings, only those in direct contact with affected pupils have been told to isolate.

Bristol

At least five schools have reported positive Covid cases since in November 2.

Oasis Academy

More than 150 pupils have been ordered to self-isolate after two confirmed coronavirus cases at this Brislington school.

Bristol Grammar School

A small number of pupils' have tested positive for coronavirus at this school.

A spokesperson said: "Bristol Grammar School confirms that a small number of pupils have tested positive for COVID-19, and is following the guidelines, protocols, and notification process as set out by Public Health England."

Whitehall Primary School

Dozens of pupils are isolating after a confirmed case in Year 3.

John Cabot Academy

Year 11 students have been forced to homeschool following a positive case at this school.

Fairfield High school

There has been four positive cases at this school in both Year 11 and Year 10.

Two positive test results were recorded in Year 11, with 44 students self -isolating, and two in Year 10, with 20 students self-isolating as a result.

North Somerset

Two schools have been confirmed in this district so far.

Kingshill Church School

This Nailsea primary school has closed to all students after two staff members tested positive for coronavirus.

Parents arriving at the school gates to drop off their children said they were told teaching staff were now in isolation following the two positive covid tests.

Nailsea School

An entire year group was sent home to self-isolate, after a student tested positive for coronavirus.

School bosses were notified of the case at just after 8am on Friday with an immediate notification sent home to parents.
