Hundreds of people visit reopened Threave Garden in Castle Douglas

Hundreds of visitors have taken the chance to visit the reopened Threave Garden.

The National Trust for Scotland property on the outskirts of Castle Douglas began welcoming visitors back on July 6.

And more than 600 people took in the stunning gardens during the first week, with staff receiving plenty of positive comments – especially for the takeaway service at the Stables Cafe.

Visitor services manager Michelle Robertson said: “It is lovely to see visitors again in the garden.

“Threave is such a great space to explore and enjoy.

“The team has worked so hard to make it safe for everyone whilst still maintaining our relaxed and peaceful atmosphere which our visitors love.

“All our visitors have been following the new rules, including face coverings inside, which is really encouraging. We hope to see more of our regulars back soon.”

Although the garden is open, the house is closed and the entire site is shut on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Visits – including by members – must be booked in advance for a morning or afternoon session at https://nts.cloudvenue.co.uk/advancedbookingthreaveestate.
