HUNDREDS of people are expected to take part in a march to mark International Women’s Day this weekend.
The demonstration, organised by International Women’s Day Edinburgh (IWDE), will take place in the capital on Saturday – on International Women’s Day – and will coincide with other demonstrations around the world.
The march will start at 1pm on High Street in Edinburgh before ending outside the Scottish Parliament.

Organisers from IWDE said International Women’s Day is “only a highlight in a series of fights that happened in the past and those due to happen in the future”, urging people to attend Saturday’s march.
The group added that “women should be fully liberated for this world to be able to escape from exploitation, austerity, patriarchy and fascism”.
A statement from the IWDE organising committee reads: “From the rise of fascism to attacks on women’s bodily autonomy, 2025 has already given us enough reason to take to the streets.
“We are inviting feminists of all genders to join us on March 8 for the 2025 International Women’s Day March as we join women all over the world to have our voices heard!”
