Hundreds of people climb Pen y Fan to catch glimpse of stunning sunrise

Hundreds of ramblers had the same idea on Sunday morning, by rising early to catch the stunning sunrise at the top of one of Wales' highest peaks.

And pictures from Pen y Fan captured by photographer Mark Lewis prove it was worth the effort.

He visited the area as part of a new year's resolution to visit the Brecon Beacons at least once a month.

Mark said: "I went up there at about 6am - I couldn't park at 6.30am.

"There were cars everywhere.

"It was full up, and when I got to the top it was rammed. There were loads of people up there."

He said the area was full of people watching the sunrise and having cups of tea.

People were taking pictures, having selfies and simply taking in the breathtaking views.

The pictures capture just how beautiful the scene was from the colour of the sky, the dusting of snow on the mountain tops and the amount of people present just taking in the scenery.

"At 7am there was definitely about 250 on the mountain," he added.

"It was lovely.

"It was nice and crisp but not too cold.

"Some parts were a bit icy, but it was really lovely."
