Hundreds of Opel Insignia cars in Ireland recalled due to fire risk

Hundreds of popular Irish cars have been recalled due to a possible fire risk.

Leeson Motors Limited has issued the recall notice for certain models of its Opel Insignia passenger vehicles.

The affected cars were manufactured between July 2016 and November 2018.

A total of 386 vehicles in the Republic of Ireland are subject to the voluntary recall.

The recall has been announced due to a safety issue with the fuel hose.

There are fears that the hose could become damaged due to contact with a support bracket, and a result fuel could leak out and potentially risk a fire.

Any affected customers are advised to book an appointment at their local Opel dealer, or at an authorised repairer where any necessary repairs will be carried out.

A Competition and Consumer Protection Commission spokesman said: "If you believe your vehicle may be impacted by this recall, then you can contact Opel on 01 533 9818 or email customercare.ie@opel.com."
