A North East energy broker has filed for administration and made all of its staff redundant.
Utility Alliance informed more than 300 of its workers that they were being made redundant yesterday after the company revealed it was collapsing into administration.
Utility Alliance has three offices located in Newcastle, Hartlepool and Sheffield. It is understood that around 70 members of staff were made redundant across the firm's Newcastle and Sheffield sites, while 240 jobs were lost at its head office in Teesside.
The company's website has now been taken offline and its telephone lines have been taken out of service.
It is expected that the business will officially appoint administrators next week.
A number of staff members took to social media to reveal the news that they were being made redundant.
One worker, posting on Facebook, said: "So after four years of working for utility alliance today we got made redundant.
"I have met some amazing people and friends for life, I am absolutely gutted. I wish every one of you the very best and good luck for the future."
Another posted on job networking platform LinkedIn.
She said: "After almost four years at Utility Alliance I am gutted to say I've been made redundant. I've worked with some amazing people over the past four years and it's really sad that the era is coming to an end.
"What a day! Best of luck to everyone in the same position x."
Utility Alliance was formed in 2015 and had been named as one of the UK's Best Companies to Work For in 2019 and 2020.
ChronicleLive contacted Utility Alliance but the firm declined to comment.
