Hundreds of jobs could be created as PrettyLittleThing reveals plans to expand Manchester head office

Hundreds of jobs could be created after PrettyLittleThing announced plans to expand its Manchester head office.

The online fashion retailer has submitted plans to Manchester City Council to expand its Wellington Mill HQ by 9,500 sq ft following the firm's "exceptional growth".

PrettyLittleThing was acquired by Boohoo Group earlier this year, and the company also had plans to relocate to a new site at Ancoats Works.

However those proposals, which received approval in March 2019, are now believed to have been put on hold.

According to the planning documents, Jenkins Design Services is advising the company on the new proposals for the Pollard Street East site, which could provide 200 jobs once complete.

The proposals will see an extension to the roof of the Wellington Mill building.

During recent weeks, there has been significant controversy surrounding the Manchester-based group - whose brands include Boohoo, BoohooMAN and Nasty Gal.

Earlier this month, management at Boohoo said they had brought in a senior lawyer to review its UK supply chain after allegations of poor conditions and low pay in factories where its clothes are made.

The board said it was "shocked and appalled" by the recent allegations, after the Sunday Times sent an undercover reporter to work at a garment factory in Leicester.
