Hundreds of homes left with little or no water supply in Bolton

Hundreds of houses have been left with little or no water supply due to a burst water main in Bolton.

Repairs are still ongoing to fix the water leak in Crown Lane, United Utilities has confirmed.

Among the main areas affected are Horwich and Blackrod, with some residents claiming they have been without water since last night.

A spokesman for United Utilities said works are taking longer than expected due to the “complex nature” of the repair.

Water tankers are in the area which will help to maintain supplies until the main is fixed.

In a statement, the water supplier said: “Our engineers are still busy repairing the burst water main on Crown Lane. Due to the complex nature of the repair, work will be ongoing throughout the course of the morning.

“We’re sorry for the inconvenience, however we have our Water on Wheels tankers in the area which will help to maintain some supplies we’ll provide further updates once the repair has been completed.”
