Hundreds of homes in Swords to be without water for most of the day as Irish Water carry out essential maintenance

Hundreds of homes in north Dublin are expected to be without water tomorrow as Irish Water carry out essential maintenance.

Fingal County Council alerted residents in Swords that they are likely to be without supply from 9am on Tuesday morning until 4pm.

They wrote: "Planned water outage in Swords, Tuesday 16 th February 2021 to carry out essential maintenance - Water off between 9am – 4pm (approx.).

"Due to back-feeding it may be possible that some areas will experience low water pressure rather than total water loss."

A large part of the northside town will be affected by the outage.

Areas affected will include:

  • Main Street (between Swords Garda Station and Fingal County Council Offices),

  • Chapel Lane,

  • St. Columcilles estate,

  • Seatown Road,

  • Seatown Villas and Park,

  • Estuary Court,

  • Lissen Hall estate,

  • Newcourt,

  • Swords Business Park

  • And surrounding area.

The council added: "We regret any inconvenience caused by this disruption."

It comes as Irish Water investigated outages in North Wicklow including Kilpedder, Kilmacanogue and Newtown Mount Kennedy and Ballyman in Co Dublin earlier today.

An Irish Water spokesman said: "Crews are currently assessing the network and plant at Vartry to determine the cause of the interruption.

"We would ask all customers in the North Wicklow area, Ballyman and those on the Vartry supply who aren’t currently affected by an interruption to supply, to conserve water at this time.

"Irish Water continues to work at this time with our Local Authority partners, contractors and others to safeguard the health and well-being of both staff and the public and to ensure the continuity of critical drinking water and wastewater services.

"Irish Water would like to remind people to follow the HSE COVID-19 advice and ensure frequent handwashing.

"Irish Water apologises to customers for the inconvenience caused and thanks them for their patience while we investigate. Our Customer Care Team is available 24/7 on 1850 278 278 or visit our Supply and Service section for updates."
