Hundreds of homes hit by power cut stretching three postcode areas

A power cut near the Lenton and Radford areas of Nottingham left hundreds of homes as far away as Woodthorpe temporarily without electricity.

Western Power Distribution, the electricity firm which manages the region's power, confirmed that the power cut affected 448 of its customers on April 8.

The electrical fault happened at about 2pm in the NG7 postcode, with residents in the NG5 and NG6 areas also reporting power issues.

A spokesperson for Western Power Distribution has told Nottinghamshire Live the power was restored "within the hour".

The spokesperson said: "At 2.04pm today (April 8) there was a power cut in the NG7 area.

"A total of 448 customers were without power and all were restored within the hour.

"Teams are now investigating the fault cause."

On Twitter, the power company added that the power cut was affecting residents in other areas, after householders in Highbury Vale and Woodthorpe contacted the firm.

A tweet from Western Power said: "Unfortunately there is a power cut affecting the local areas including NG5, NG6 and NG7.

"Engineers are working to restore power and we aim to have all power supplies back to normal by 3.30pm."
