Hundreds of 'Free Palestine' campaigners march through Manchester city centre

Hundreds of 'Free Palestine' campaigners marched through Manchester city centre this afternoon.

Video footage shows protesters marching down Oxford Road then onto St Peter's Square.

They chanted 'Free Palestine' and waved the Palestinian flag throughout the march.

It comes amid tensions in Britain and across the world over renewed violence in Israel and Palestine.

Thousands of Palestinians have been forced to flee their homes after more than a week of sustained conflict.

Since last Monday night, Palestinian militant group Hamas has fired hundreds of rockets into Israel, whose military responded by barraging the Gaza Strip with tank fire and air strikes.

Another 'Free Palestine' march started in Platt Fields Park on Saturday.

The march saw a speech by local MP, Afzal Khan, before moving onto the main carriageway in Wilmslow Road and Oxford Road.
