Environment: Green energy business ENER-G has announced plans to create 100 jobs worldwide this year, reports the Manchester Evening News. ENER-G, which designs and manufactures energy-efficient heat and power systems, will create 50 posts in the UK, of which 25 will be in Salford. The rest will be in South Africa, Lithuania, Poland and other eastern European countries.
Solar power: Sharp's Wrexham factory is almost doubling solar panel production, leading to a total of 300 new jobs. As part of the development plans, a new training academy is being opened, training between 25 and 50 solar panel installers per month, according to the BBC.
Apprenticeships: West Somerset Council has provided funding for 20 apprenticeships to social enterprise South West Apprenticeship. The company will be responsible for matching candidates to apprenticeship roles, training and supporting the apprentices. Retail: A new branch of Primark will create more than 100 jobs when it opens its doors later this year, reports the BBC. Primark is looking to recruit staff through a dedicated website and it says there are more than 125 jobs available in the new King's Lynn shop in Norfolk. They include jobs as sales assistants, supervisors and store room workers.
Call centre: Sky will create more than 500 jobs in Sheffield with a new customer service centre. The company says recruitment for management will begin immediately, with customer adviser positions advertised from April. The service centre will begin to operate phone lines in July, according to The Star.
