Hundreds of anti-maskers plan to attend Edinburgh coronavirus protest on Saturday

Hundreds have indicated they will attend an anti- lockdown march on the Scottish Parliament this weekend.

Organised on social media by a group of people who question coronavirus and the need for lockdown, around 640 have said they will attend the march in Edinburgh.

The group plan to meet at Arthur's Seat before "marching" to the parliament building.

The "Saving Scotland" group say they will protest public health rules designed to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Organisers have asked attendees to gather from 12:30pm, and have also put a call out for stewards and volunteer first aiders.

They said they are working with Police Scotland to facilitate the march.

One local took to Twitter reacting to the march, saying: "At least we know where all the idiots will be that day so can avoid the area."

Speakers include a number of academics who have publicly questioned experts, such as Prof Dolores Cahil.

The Facebook group where the protest have been organised has over 5000 members, and Edinburgh Live recently revealed how one member stormed out of a "cashless" Starbucks after refusing to pay by card .
