The truth about that Facebook post about woman 'defecating on Welsh driveway'

Pictures appearing to show a woman defecating on a driveway in Bridgend have drawn hundreds of angry comments from locals - but there's one small problem, it didn't happen in Wales.

Images show a cyclist apparently caught in the act by a homeowner’s CCTV. In the pictures, the woman is seen to walk onto the drive, relieve herself and immediately leave.

The pictures were posted in the Facebook group ‘Find the scumbags … Bridgend’, attracting hundreds of reactions and comments before being deleted. The post read: “Anyone recognise the lady in the pictures please, as she took a **** on my driveway between 12-3 this afternoon while we were at the Toby Carvery having lunch.

“If you come back and collect the **** by tomorrow and jetwash the driveway before I go to the police with it that will be the end of the matter, if not I’ll bag it myself and infiltrate all cycling clubs and hunt you down.”

The post got mixed reactions from commenters, with some sympathetic to the culprit, theorising that she could be in digestive distress. Others tagged their friends with laughing face emojis.

But the post was deleted after several commenters pointed out that the pictures actually originated from a Facebook video posted by an Australian homeowner last week.

Melbourne police are reportedly looking into this incident, which is thought to be the latest in a recent bout of "poo jogging", where joggers or cyclists defecate on driveways, gardens, or public footpaths. There have not been any similar incidents reported in Wales.
