Hundreds gather in Lanarkshire town to pay tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

Around 300 people gathered in Larkhall yesterday to pay their last respects to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

A short service was held at Larkhall's cenotaph at around 2pm and was organised by well known community stalwart Mary Duckett BEM .

Piper Haroon Rashid played before the service and there were three speakers and two bandsmen from the local band who played the national anthem.

Flowers were also laid by members of the community with almost 300 people attending the service.

Mary Duckett, who was awarded the British Empire Medal in 2018 by the Queen for her for voluntary service in Larkhall, Hamilton and South Lanarkshire, told Lanarkshire Live: "Thank you so very much to the people of Larkhall for the amazing turn out at the cenotaph at 2pm to pay tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth.
