Hundreds gather for funerals of Drumcondra, Dublin crash victims

The two people who were killed in a horrific two car crash in Dublin were laid to rest on Monday.

Young mum Rachel Coughlan and great-grandad John Nulty tragically died after the collision in Drumcondra last Friday.

Hundreds of mourners gathered at Our Lady of Lourdes Church and S.S. Peter and Paul's Church for the funerals of Rachel and John respectively.

The mum-of-two was described as a "beautiful girl" and a caring parent.

Man killed in horror Dublin crash named locally as great-grandad John 'Pops' Nulty 

A funeral notice said: "Rachel will be sadly missed by her partner Michael, her loving children Lucas and Preston, step-children Bradley, Jade and Michael, her loving parents James and Marguerita, brothers Shane, Ian, Daniel, and James Jnr., sister Sarah, sisters-in-law, nephew Liam, cousins, aunts, uncles, relatives and her many friends."

Last week, local councillor Janice Boylan also led tributes and said it was "very sad news" for the north inner city community.

She said: "Very sad and shocking news coming from the north inner city today. RIP Rachel.

"My thoughts and prayers are with your family and friends. And of course RIP to the other man who died in the same collision."

Meanwhile, the funeral for John 'Pops' Nulty took place in Balbriggan.

Friends and family of John were Dublin GAA jerseys as they carried his coffin.

Touching tributes pour in for mum Rachel Coughlan killed in tragic crash in Drumcondra, Dublin 

The 72-year-old was orginally from Cabra in north Dublin.

A funeral notice said: "He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Frances, children Catherine, Joan, Maria, Teresa, Paula, John and Jackie, sons-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters Marie and Martina, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends."
