Hundreds flock to Glasgow's Kelvingrove Park where crowds of drunk teens are pictured flouting social distancing

Hundreds of drunk teen revellers have been pictured flouting social distancing rules at a Glasgow park.

Concerns have been raised after the youngsters were spotted flocking to Kelvingrove Park this evening, despite strict restrictions still being in place due to coronavirus.

One eyewitness watched in horror as raucous crowds of young people defied warnings to stay at home to gather for a drinking session.

The woman said she felt "intimidated" by the hordes, who were blasting music and "dropping litter everywhere".

She added she was shocked at the lack of police presence in the popular park in the west end of the city.

But a Police Scotland spokesperson insisted officers have been on routine patrols throughout the day.

He told the Daily Record: "No one has been found to be breaching the restrictions."

The gathering comes after today's announcement by Nicola Sturgeon that Scotland is moving to phase two of the country's slow route out of coronavirus lockdown.

The First Minister confirmed changes to socialising inside and outdoors in a welcome boost to Scots desperate to meet more friends and family.

From tomorrow (Friday, June 19) Scots can meet up with members of two other households outdoors in groups of no greater than eight people.

People "shielding" at home can now exercise outside, play golf and meet another household from Friday.

But social distancing of 2m between people is to be adhered to at all the times, the First Minister said.
