A family home in Westhoughton has put on a spooktacular light-up show made up of thousands of LED lights to wow crowds in aid of a children's hospice.
Paul Spann and his wife, Lisa, have made creeptacular light-up displays at their home in Hemley Close this Halloween in support of Derian House Children's Hospice in Chorley. The scarily exciting show displays giant spiders, bats, ghosts, pumpkins and gravestones made up of 80,000 LED lights.
Paul told the MEN: "We want to lift people's spirits this Halloween given the pandemic and economic climate, it's something we've been planning since January.

"From the feedback we're getting from talking to people when we're out every night, everyone who comes seems to absolutely love the lights, they say it's not something they've ever really seen done before."
The attraction provides various bright-displayed lights with talking characters, recorded speeches by the Spanns, and video and music snippets on LED screens of some Halloween favourites such as the Addams Family, Ghostbusters, and Stranger Things.

The couple have been running the Halloween shows for four nights from 28th-31st October twice per evening (6pm and 7pm), with each show about 30 minutes long.
Paul's daughter, Lauren, said: "They thought of a new way to raise money, and last night there was over 300 people there, it was so exciting!
"It's amazing how much the community got together and donated. Paul's spent months putting everything together, and it's great to see how much it's being appreciated by others."
The event saw an electrifying finish over the weekend by thriller dancers taking part in the show, including many other spooktacular LED computer controlled lights, plus two screens made from LED panels.

Paul, who works in IT, was the programming mastermind and made sure to provide backup power in the likelihood of any power cuts to keep kids entertained this festive Halloween.
Paul said: "I was definitely nervous putting up some of the heavier and bigger props to the top of the house, but I faced the fear with our huge spider. The smaller spiders scattered around have interesting effects, including the RIP headstones on the driveway.
"I know that all this is popular in America, they do very similar things, but I wanted to jump on the band wagon and just thought if they could do it so could I."
Last year, Paul and his family lit-up their home in aid of Derian House's 'Deck the Halls' which oversees families decorating houses from across the region to raise money for the Hospice charity. The Spann's Christmas light show aimed to raise £1000 for Derian House, but in the end they ended up raising £4,500 for the festive event.

This first Halloween show from the family encourages costumes for the spooky event, but is eager to remind people of the thousands of flashing lights that may cause strobe effects for people with photo sensitive epilepsy.
Soon after Halloween, Paul and Lisa will be getting ready and stuck in to provide their second Christmas light-up event in order to continue raising money for charity.
