Hundreds of people were left heartbroken over the death of a nurse who "gave her life" to the NHS.
Janice Glassey fell ill with coronavirus just three days before she was to retire but sadly died a month later.
The 66-year-old worked as a dedicated and beloved nurse for 14 years looking after people receiving end-of-life care.
Mum-of-three Janice, from Widnes, was engaged to be married and was known for the passion she showed to her job.
Her death has left those who knew her absolutely devastated while hundreds have flooded social media with tributes to her.
Sheila Sheerin said: "This woman has spent her life saving and caring for the ill, then this happens.
"Just before she should be retiring and spending her life relaxing and going on holidays.
"It is heartbreaking."
Emma Gothard also said: "She’s given all her life and saved people and this is what happens.
"My thoughts and prayers are with her family."
Trevor Trow added: "Horrible news again. All her life given to save people and this happens.
"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family. RIP special lady."
People who knew Janice also posted to share what an incredible woman she was.
Jane Matthews said: "R.I.P Janice. You're going to be missed so much by all.
"Continue to shine down as bright as you were in life on all your friends and family."
Janice was described by her bosses as "valued," went into Whiston Hospital at the start of the month where she spent about a week on a ventilator in intensive care.
The frontline worker, who tested positive with coronavirus, was transferred to Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital, in Broadgreen, where she battled the virus for about a fortnight.
Sadly, on April 24, she lost her battle with the deadly virus.
Today, her heartbroken daughter Kerri told the ECHO: "Mum was loved by everyone.
"She was so funny and had so much to look forward to.
"Mum was very dedicated to her job, she would regularly cover people's shifts.
"We are devastated as we were looking forward to sharing so many occasions together."
The 44-year-old, who travelled up from her home in London to Widnes be with her mum, after signs of the virus became apparent, added: "We are heartbroken, mum was completely healthy.
"She was a bag of fun and used to love going shopping and for cocktails in Liverpool with her daughters and granddaughters.
"She just wanted to live life and was so loving and giving."
