The first edition of the Hundred Women’s Competition will be played exclusively at the eight venues used in the men’s edition.

When the tournament was due to begin in the summer of 2020, the ECB had lined up 20 different venues around the country.

But, after the tournament was delayed due to Covid-19, the tournament will be played at the eight Test grounds instead.

An ECB statement said: “The decision has been taken due to the operational implications of Covid-19 with double-headers and increased alignment with the men’s teams providing the Women’s Competition with appropriate visibility and exposure – including more comprehensive broadcast coverage”.

The situation will be reviewed after the 2021 edition of the tournament.

“We believe that this is the best structure for 2021,” said Beth Barrett-Wild, the Head of the Hundred Women’s Competition. “However, with the women’s game transforming and growing at pace, it is important that we remain flexible in our approach to evolving this model in the future.”

Meanwhile, the Oval Invincibles have confirmed that Tom Curran and Reece Topley will represent them in the men’s competition, and Georgia Adams and Tash Farrant in the women’s competition.
