Hummel have produced a video teaser for the new Everton third kit which will be revealed on Wednesday.
The 15-second animation suggests the shirt could be based on the Blues away jersey of the late 1950s-early 1960s era.
Continuing with the royal blue, white and yellow three-colour livery that features on Hummel’s 2021/22 home shirt for Everton, the sequence shows the design of the shirt the club wore on their travels over half a century ago.
Primarily white, there is a blue v-neck collar and blue trim on the sleeves while the chest has three horizontal stripes, two thinner and yellow either side of a thicker blue band in the centre.
Just how close Everton’s current kit manufacturers from Denmark will stick to the classic design remains to be seen.
The 2021/22 away kit – first worn in the final game of last season – is also inspired by an Everton shirt of yesteryear, going even further back to the club’s pioneering days in the Victorian era.
After acquiring players from other clubs who all brought their own kit, Everton tried to bring some uniformity to their side in 1881/82 by dying all their shirts black and adding a crimson sash from shoulder to hip for a dash of colour.
The decision would prompt them to be given the nickname ‘The Black Watch’ but with crimson deemed too close to Liverpool red for modern Evertonian tastes, the current edition’s diagonal stripe is more of a deep salmon hue.
