Police have identified the remains found in Port Lincoln in July as belonging to alleged murder victim Julian Story.
A member of the public found what they believed to be a human skull in scrubland east of Port Lincoln on July 31. The area had not been searched by police as it was not deemed an area of interest at the time, the ABC reports.
However, forensic analysis has now identified the remains as belonging to Story.
Police allege the 39-year-old man was murdered by his partner, former Beauty and the Geek contestant Tamika Chesser, around midnight on June 17.

Story’s body was discovered after emergency services responded to reports of a small fire in a unit shared by Chesser and Story, located on Flinders Highway, at around 3.15 pm on June 19.
After entering the premises, police located Story’s body and arrested and charged Chesser soon after.
However, police were unable to locate Story’s head, and appeared to the public the following week.
Chesser was charged with murder, disposing of human remains to pervert the course of justice, and assaulting a police officer.

Chesser’s identity was initially suppressed via a gag order as investigators processed the scene, but the judge in the case, Magistrate Ben Sale, lifted the order in June ahead of a hearing scheduled for December.
Chesser appeared on season two of Beauty and the Geek in 2010. She is being held under a mental health detention order.
