'Dumped without a grain of humanity': Remains identified as Townsville mum

Human remains found in north Queensland have been identified as those of Julie Hutchinson, who went missing in March 2015.

Her husband Michael Hutchinson was convicted of her manslaughter in 2017 and jailed for more than 15 years.

The remains were discovered last month on a remote stretch of road around 100 kilometres west of Townsville.

Ms Hutchinson's sister Christine Teitzel reported her missing on April 9, 2015.

The 48-year-old mother-of-two was last seen at a residence in Chelsea Drive on March 7, 2015.

Ms Teitzel said today the family would now be able to lay Julie to rest.

"This past week has been harrowing and our lives have been tipped upside down once again," she said.

"We have spent many hours waiting for confirmation that the remains found up on Hervey's Range Road are those of our Jules."

She said the immediate family, including Julie's two boys, went to where her remains were discovered.

"We were confronted with the reality of what took place during that terrible time — realising her body was dumped without a grain of humanity," Ms Teitzel said.

"To the person who found our Julie, we will be forever grateful. If it wasn't for the thoughtful actions you took on that day, this moment may never have been possible.

"We are now able to lay her to rest with the respect and dignity she deserves."

During the trial, the court heard Michael Hutchinson had admitted to dumping her body in bushland at Hervey Range after she was killed during an argument.

Hutchinson was also found guilty of fraud, after a woman pretended to be his wife so he could borrow $86,000.
