Human remains found in historic country estate laid 'undiscovered for 12 months'

Police have appealed for information after human remains were found in the grounds of an historic country estate.

The body was found by a forestry worker close to the A419 at Bathurst Estate in Cirencester, Gloucestershire in May 2018.

It was discovered last year but all forensic and DNA attempts to identify him have failed.

Facial construction has been created by Professor Caroline Wilkinson, director of Liverpool John Moores University’s Face Lab and School of Art and Design.

Police say the remains have laid undiscovered for at least 12 months near the royal estate and landscaped gardens designed by Lord Bathurst and poet Alexander Pope.

The body could be a white man of large build between 5"5 and 5"8, according to a forensic Anthropologist and Odontologist report.

They said he was between 28 to 55 years old.

He could have been a local who travelled between Cirencester and Stroud, and regularly hiked.

He wore a black/dark grey Peter Storm raincoat, grey/blue short-sleeved shirt with hand stitching, black gilet and blue trousers with a dark leather belt.
