Human remains found during building work in Birmingham city centre

Police have sealed off a pavement in Birmingham city centre after human remains were found during building work.

On Sunday, West Midlands Police cordoned off a short section footpath beside Park Street, near Birmingham’s Curzon Street station, which is undergoing development work to become a HS2 station.

Investigations are now being carried out to identify the remains, which are believed to have been there "for some time".

The force said in a statement: “We are investigating after human remains were found.

“It is believed the remains have been at the location for some time. Tests are being carried out to identify the victim and establish the cause of death.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact West Midlands Police, quoting log number 1177 of May 9.
