Human remains discovered in search for Gabby Petito’s fiancé Brian Laundrie

Human remains have been unearthed in a Florida wilderness area in the hunt for Gabby Petito’s fiancé Brian Laundrie, according to reports.

A backpack containing some things belonging to the missing Laundrie was found near the remains in Florida’s Carlton Reserve, according to a statement by Laundrie attorney Steven Bertolino.

The human remains have yet to be identified.

In a statement, family lawyer Steve Bertolino said: “Chris and Roberta Laundrie went to the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park this morning to search for Brian.

“The FBI and (North Port Police Department) were informed last night of Brian’s parents’ intentions and they met Chris and Roberta there this morning.

“After a brief search off a trail that Brian frequented some articles belonging to Brian were found. As of now law enforcement is conducting a more thorough investigation of that area.”

Police have been trying to trace Laundrie as he is considered a person of interest in the disappearance of Petito.

It was recently established Ms Petito was strangled weeks before her body was discovered, a coroner ruled.

An international search was sparked to find the US blogger after she vanished without a trace during a cross-country road trip with her lover.

Her body was finally discovered near the remote Spread Creek Dispersed Campground in Bridger-Teton National Forest in western Wyoming.

In the weeks leading up to Ms Petito’s death, the couple had documented their picture-perfect van life on social media as they continued on their travels.
