Human fireball horror as arson thugs set themselves alight after torching Hamilton shop

Dramatic CCTV footage showing the moment two bungling vandals set themselves on fire in a Scots town has appeared online.

The callous thugs targeted a row of businesses on Bothwell Road, Hamilton, at around 1.35am on May 11.

The hooded duo, who both had their faces covered with white masks, were filmed approaching the scene on foot.

One of the men was carrying two green petrol canisters which he proceeded to pour over the entrance of a shop.

The other unidentifiable thug repeatedly picked up objects from the pavement and lobbed them through the windows of the shop.

After pouring the flammable liquid inside and around the entrance to a communal stairwell, the idiot in the grey jacket attempted to set it alight.

But a huge explosion erupts from the shop front, coating both men in flames as they run away from the scene.

It is understood that three separate businesses were affected by the wilful-fire raising attempt.

Police have arrested and charged a 34-year-old man in connection to the incident.
