Hull Trains to return to full timetable as half-term hits

It carries a heart on its logo, and Hull Trains is returning to its full timetable on Valentine’s Day.

The open access operator, providing a direct link to London, will bring back the last of the remaining suspended services when it reduced operations in light of the latest Covid spike.

Action was taken on the rails immediately after Christmas as demand dropped for the First Group company.

Now the team has confirmed the 1908 from Hull and 0727 from London King’s Cross will return from Monday, February 14.

Capacity will also double from February 18 on Fridays and Saturdays, with 10 car services replacing five car services.

This follows the reintroduction of the 1708 Hull – London Kings Cross, and 2030 London Kings Cross – Hull, that were put back on sale earlier than planned, this coming Monday.

David Gibson, managing director, said: “We have closely monitored passenger sales and reservations ever since we took the difficult, but necessary, decision to temporarily reduce our timetable on December 27.

I am delighted to announce that we are now in a position to bring back all services and can look forward to connecting even more customers across our route just in time for the February half-term school holidays.”

The reduced timetable came less than a fortnight after the business had introduced its 94th service, the highest service level ever offered in the company’s history.
